The Moment That Changed Everything
On July 17th, 2009, Nathan while driving impaired, resulting in a tragic accident which took the life of his passenger that forever altered the lives of both families, as well as his own. Nathan shares his story as a powerful reminder that alcohol and drug use impairs decision- making, and that choices made, especially behind the wheel can have irreversible consequences, affecting not only our lives but the lives of others.
At the age of 23, Nathan was sentenced to 15 years in prison as a result of his decisions. While serving his sentence, he recognized that his life would go nowhere if he continued down the same path. This realization became the turning point that transformed his life from the inside-out, with the support of mentors and programs, and through his commitment to personal accountability, perseverance, and hard work. Today, Nathan’s mission is to encourage others to understand that choices matter, change is possible and the decisions we make today shape the direction of our lives.

Be a Student Ambassador for Your School
Positive change is taking place in schools across the country! Nathan spoke in 280 schools from the east to the west coast. Nathan even presented his first speaking engagement in Castlegar, Canada, because of a determined senior who wanted to share Nathan's powerful message with his peers.
Many students have written to YLS asking how they can bring our talks to their school. It is actually very simple, just share the reasons why to your principal, guidance counselor, teachers and even your parents.
Last year we had at least a dozen students bring Nathan to their schools and communities. One of our team members mentored each student to use their leadership skills and compassion for their school and community. All the students who championed this cause not only demonstrated passion, determination and leadership, they also demonstrated intentional participation in their community for the common good of others!
Check out some of the student ambassadors on this page and be inspired to move forward with confidence in bringing Your Life Speaks to your school in 2020! If interested contact natalie@yourlifespeak.org

Speaking
Breaking the Bully Cycle at School
Speaking to the heart of bullying and the harm it causes, Nathan reminds students that hurt people often hurt people. Many find themselves caught in the cycle of being the bully or the bullied—sometimes both. He addresses this reality head-on, reinforcing that every student matters and every word carries weight. With a unique ability to help young people uncover the deeper pain behind these roles and the choices that drive them, Nathan brings both honesty and real-life experience to this message. He challenges students to break the cycle, choose empathy, and become upstanders who use their voice to build others up instead of tearing them down.
Resiliency & Perseverance
Resiliency isn’t built in comfort zones. Nathan shows how setbacks can become the fuel for mental toughness and perseverance. The question is: can you rise when most people quit?
You Can Do Hard Things
Facing discomfort is the fastest path to growth. Nathan challenges audiences to confront fear, break through excuses, and tackle what seems impossible. Are you ready to do what others won’t?
Self-Motivation & Discipline
Motivation fades — discipline lasts. Nathan Harmon's approach emphasizes consistency, personal responsibility, and daily habits as the foundation for long-term success.
Adaptability & Change
Change is unavoidable. This message focuses on adaptability, mindset shifts, and letting go of old patterns to create growth, opportunity, and forward momentum.
Balanced Lifestyle
True balance comes from intentional choices. Audiences walk away understanding that sustainable success requires boundaries, routines, and aligned priorities.
Accountability, Transparency & Vulnerability
By modeling ownership without excuses, Nathan Harmon demonstrates how transparency and vulnerability create trust, growth, and credibility. The message challenges listeners to drop defensiveness, tell the truth, and take responsibility for their actions.
Nothing Changes—Nothing Changes
This concept is delivered with uncomfortable simplicity. Awareness without action is called out as self-deception, and repetition without change is exposed as a guaranteed outcome. The message forces a hard truth: if nothing changes, nothing changes — and waiting only increases the cost.
Giving Up Is Not an Option
Quitting is reframed as a decision, not a circumstance. — but what if resilience could be taught? Nathan shows how commitment and grit push past obstacles.
